Unruly Paperwork
I am an unusual person, one of my favourite things to do is to organise paperwork
I have a lot of clients who had no system for paperwork, were very stressed out by it and overwhelmed. I create simple systems that gets rid of the backlog and gives you a simple system for going forward so that you will not be in that position again. My Clients feel in control and I always get a huge sense of relief from them when I hand over the new simple, clearly labelled way of dealing with whatever comes through the door.
For many of us paperwork is the one category of clutter that never seems to go away. Even in our increasingly digital lives it has a way of multiplying with letters on the kitchen counter, unopened envelopes on the hallway table, bank statements tucked into drawers, insurance renewals hiding beneath a pile of “important things to deal with later.” It becomes overwhelming and usually leads to more paperwork turning up, making things even more stressful.
Getting it Organised
To most clients, paperwork is tedious, intimidating and not as visually rewarding as an organised wardrobe or a kitchen with everything in the correct place but it is one of the biggest sources of invisible stress. Each unsorted document may represent an unanswered question or unfinished task. Multiply that by months or years and no wonder it starts to feel heavy and overwhelming.
The key to good paper organisation is designing a system that works for you, not just one that looks good or that works for another person. Everyone has different things that they need to keep so I use bespoke categories that make sense to you. Once we have a system that works, the paperwork will come in, you will know if you need to keep it and if so where to put it, there will be no build up.
Imagine knowing exactly where to find your home insurance policy, your child’s birth certificate, or a receipt you need for tax purposes quickly. A system that allows you to be in control and saves time, stress and money.
I worked as a PA and in administration for years and have honed a simple system that works for clients. Imagine knowing exactly where to find your home insurance policy, your child’s birth certificate, or a receipt you need for tax purposes quickly. A system that allows you to be in control and saves time, stress and money.
The Benefits of Organising your Paperwork
Reduced mental load
That nagging sense that you “should really deal with the paperwork” disappears. I find that Clients beat themselves up for avoiding paperwork and feel shame at the piles, as well as the fear that they have forgotten something important. This is replaced with a feeling of lightness and control.
Save time (and money)
No more rummaging through piles or paying late fees because something important got buried. No more replacing certificates that you cannot find. A well-organised system means you handle admin in minutes, not hours and without the stress of looking everywhere for something.
A calmer home
Paperwork piled up all over a home adds to the visual and mental noise in a home. It can be a subliminal stress signal even when we have become ‘clutter blind’ to the piles. Clear surfaces and knowing what you need to do brings a calm feeling to your home.
Confidence and control
Knowing that your personal documents are organised, secure and up to date brings a sense of control and empowerment. Your home will feel like it’s serving you, not demanding from you and you will know what is important and needs to be done.
No judgement approach
When we work together I never judge my clients, it’s about partnership. All I want to do is work out how to make it function to suit you. Many clients worry that their paperwork is “too much” or “too messy.” Do not worry, I love mess and I have seen it all, paperwork is a very common area to avoid dealing with and there’s nothing unusual about having a backlog. It is also one of my favourite areas to organise, I will arrive excited to deal with your paperwork!
Confidentiality guaranteed
Of course anything I see remains confidential, paperwork often concerns personal matters. Nothing difficult will be discussed with you, I just categorise important papers and let you know where they are. And of course, nothing I read ever leaves the room.
Shredding Service
I can also deal with shredding for large amounts of paperwork, meaning that it will not remain in your house with another job to take care of (this is an additional cost).
So imagine a future where you can find things, you don’t stress out when you need a certain document, you know when your house insurance needs renewing and where your birth certificate is. The passports are together with travel documents and spare foreign currency ready for your next adventure. You know where everything is and can have it to hand quickly and fuss free. This is possible, please get in touch.
